What this demo does — and what it does not
The demo runs the same extraction as the production API: the same model, the same field schema, and the same ICAO 9303 check-digit verification. What you see here is what you would integrate.
The difference is the limits, not the quality: the demo is capped per visitor and per day because every read costs us real money. Creating an account gives you free tokens and stops you sharing that daily allowance with the rest of the internet.
Nothing you upload is kept. The image lives in memory for the length of the read, and the extracted fields travel to your browser without passing through our database.
Do you keep my passport photo?
No. The image is processed in memory and discarded when the read finishes, and we keep none of the extracted fields. All we record is that an attempt happened — its timestamp and a hashed fingerprint of the IP — so the demo limits can be enforced.
Why am I asked to prove I am not a robot?
Because every extraction costs us real money. Cloudflare's check filters scripted traffic out before the read runs, which is what makes a free demo possible at all.
How many times can I try it?
A handful of times per visitor. If you hit the limit, creating an account gives you free tokens so you can keep testing with your own documents without sharing the daily allowance.
Is the quality the same as the API?
Yes. The demo calls exactly the same extraction service — there is no cut-down version. If it reads your document well here, the API will too.
What should I do if the read fails?
It is almost always the photo: a cropped page, low light, glare across the MRZ, or low resolution. Retake the full data page straight on, in good light.
